Could your dog be a blood donor?

Is your dog

over 20kg?

friendly?

neutered?

aged 2-8years old?

calm?

What does a donation involve?

Your dog will be admitted into the hospital and we will test your dog’s blood to make sure they have enough reserves to cope with a donation. The blood will then be taken from a vein in your dog’s neck. The process takes about 15 minutes. We will then feed your dog and you can bring your pet home, knowing they may have saved another dogs life.

What about cats?

Unfortunately, feline blood groups are more complex and therefore we do not transfuse cats.
